What do
you do if my Academy child forgets their lunch?
Appletree will provide a lunch to an Academy child at a
cost of $5.00. You will be notified at pick-up that your
child was provided this service.
Do you
provide refrigeration for Academy lunches?
Appletree does not have a refrigerator for Academy lunches.
We suggest that you purchase cold packs, which are quite
effective.
Do
you have a microwave to heat Academy lunches?
Appletree is unable to provide a microwave to Academy students
for lunches. It is not time effective and it also poses a
safety hazard.
May
I come to Appletree and eat lunch with my child?
You certainly may. We welcome visits at any time. It is
suggested that you let your child’s teacher know so
that if there is a change in schedule they can make you aware
of it.
How
much homework is expected at the various grade levels?
Kindergarten
You are expected to
read with your child on a nightly basis. As the year progresses
you may have an additional 15 minutes twice a week to help
get the students prepared for 1st Grade.
1st Grade
You are expected to read with your child on a nightly basis.
This may take fifteen to twenty minutes. They will also have
spelling, writing and/or math that may take an additional
15 minutes.
2nd-4th Grade
Students are expected to read on a daily basis. They will
have monthly book reports which they need to pace themselves
with guidance from their parents. They will also have math
/ science / social studies / spelling / language on nightly
or weekly basis. This should last no more than one hour per
night.
Appletree provides a study hall time Monday-Thursday for
45 minutes to help with this process.
